Jazz Festival Experiences in Manhattan, New York

Explore the NoMad Jazz Festival and jazz concert highlights

Manhattan's jazz scene is set to dazzle this summer with an array of festivals and concerts that celebrate the genre's rich heritage and vibrant future. At the forefront is the NoMad Jazz Festival, a community-driven event that has quickly become a highlight of New York City's cultural calendar.

The festival's main stage in Madison Square Park will host a series of free performances featuring both established and emerging artists. This year's lineup includes the Roy Hargrove Big Band and vocalist Lizz Wright, promising unforgettable experiences for jazz enthusiasts.

Complementing the main stage events, the festival introduces "Jazz on the NoMad Piazza," a series of free, open-air performances along Broadway between 25th and 27th Streets. Curated by guitarist Matt Chertkoff, these sessions aim to transform the neighborhood into a spontaneous listening room, bringing jazz directly to the streets. The series kicks off on June 24, 2026, with the Nick Hempton Quartet.

Beyond the NoMad Jazz Festival, Manhattan's jazz calendar is brimming with notable events. The Blue Note Jazz Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary this June, featuring artists like Ledisi, Durand Bernarr, and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Meanwhile, SMOKE Jazz Club presents an impressive June lineup, including performances by bassist John Patitucci, pianist Danilo Pérez, and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington.

For those seeking a blend of tradition and innovation, the Jazztopad Festival returns to New York from June 17–21, 2026. This festival showcases a fusion of Polish and American jazz artists, with performances at venues like Dizzy's Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center and the David Rubenstein Atrium.

As summer unfolds, Manhattan reaffirms its status as a global jazz hub, offering a plethora of events that honor the genre's past while embracing its evolving future.
