Four NYC-Area Hospitals Shine in U.S. News & World Report's 2025-2026 Rankings

Mount Sinai, NYU Langone, NewYork-Presbyterian, and Hackensack University Medical Center Earn Top Honors

In the latest U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals" rankings for 2025-2026, four hospitals from the New York City area have secured positions among the nation's top 20 medical centers. This recognition underscores their commitment to providing exceptional patient care and advancing medical excellence.

Mount Sinai Hospital has been listed on the publication's "Honor Roll" for the tenth consecutive year. The hospital achieved top-10 rankings in five specialties, an increase from four in 2024, and top-20 rankings in nine specialties, up from eight in the previous year. Additionally, Mount Sinai was rated "High Performing" in all 22 procedures and conditions assessed by U.S. News, reflecting its comprehensive excellence across various medical disciplines. NYU Langone Health distinguished itself by securing the No. 1 spot nationally in four specialties: neurology and neurosurgery (for the fourth consecutive year), cardiology, heart and vascular surgery, pulmonology and lung surgery, and geriatrics. This achievement marks NYU Langone as the medical center with the most top-ranked specialties in the nation. Dr. Robert I. Grossman, CEO of NYU Langone and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine, attributed this success to the dedicated employees across the integrated health system. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell maintained its status as one of the nation's premier hospitals, ranking in the top five nationwide in seven specialties, including cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, psychiatry, diabetes and endocrinology, urology, and rheumatology. This marks the 21st consecutive year that NewYork-Presbyterian has been recognized among the top hospitals in the nation. Hackensack University Medical Center made history by becoming the first hospital in New Jersey to be ranked among the top 20 national hospitals by U.S. News. This milestone reflects the hospital's unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Robert C. Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health, credited this achievement to the dedication of the hospital's team members who prioritize patient care.

These rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation of over 4,400 hospitals across 15 specialties, assessing factors such as clinical outcomes, patient safety, and expert opinions. The consistent recognition of these institutions highlights the New York City area's prominence in the healthcare sector and its dedication to medical excellence.

In addition to these top-ranked hospitals, other notable institutions in the region received commendations. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was named the best cancer center in the Northeast and ranked No. 2 nationally for cancer care. The Hospital for Special Surgery maintained its position as the No. 1 hospital for orthopedics nationally for the 15th consecutive year.
