Umi, the acclaimed Japanese fine dining establishment from Atlanta, is set to make its mark in Manhattan's Flatiron District.

 

Known for its celebrity clientele and exquisite sushi offerings, Umi's expansion brings a fresh omakase experience to New York City.

 

Located at 63 Madison Avenue, the new venue boasts a 5,000-square-foot space featuring a main dining area, sushi bar, private dining room, and an intimate omakase counter.

 

The interiors, designed by Gilles & Boissier, promise a sleek and luxurious ambiance.

 

Leading the culinary team is Chef Kazuo Yoshida, a Nagasaki native with a rich history in New York's sushi scene.

 

His previous roles at esteemed establishments have significantly shaped the city's modern omakase landscape.

 

Joining him is Chef Todd Dae Kulper, a longtime member of the Umi team, bringing a decade of experience in crafting the restaurant's signature dishes.

 

Unlike many of New York's ultra-premium omakase counters, Umi aims to offer a more accessible yet refined sushi experience.

 

Diners can anticipate standout dishes such as lobster toban-yaki, wagyu steak, and uni risotto, alongside an expanded beverage program featuring a diverse selection of sake.

 

Reservations are expected to be in high demand, reflecting the buzz surrounding this anticipated opening.

 

Umi is slated to open this summer, poised to become a notable addition to Manhattan's Japanese fine dining scene.
