Discover mathematics museum highlights and interactive math exhibits

The National Museum of Mathematics, affectionately known as MoMath, has recently unveiled its expansive new location at 635 Sixth Avenue in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.

This move nearly doubles the museum's previous space, allowing for an impressive array of over 70 interactive math exhibits designed to captivate visitors of all ages.

Among the highlights is the renowned square-wheeled tricycle, a favorite that continues to intrigue and delight.

In addition to beloved classics, MoMath has introduced 31 new exhibits.

Notably, 'Allot Like an Egyptian' offers younger audiences an engaging exploration of Egyptian fractions, blending historical context with hands-on learning.

Recognizing the importance of early childhood education, the museum has dedicated an entire section to kid-sized interactive exhibits.

This space is thoughtfully designed to foster a love for mathematics from a young age, making complex concepts accessible and fun.

MoMath's commitment to showcasing the intersection of art and mathematics is evident in its recent exhibitions.

From May to October 2024, the museum hosted 'Mathemalchemy,' a collaborative art installation that celebrated the beauty and creativity inherent in mathematical concepts.

Following this, 'Fluids & Fractals' captivated visitors with Karl Sims' fractal art and the interactive 'Flow' exhibit, which allowed guests to create mesmerizing patterns through natural mathematical rules.

In a significant leadership development, Dr. Manjul Bhargava, a Fields Medalist and esteemed mathematician, has been appointed as MoMath's first president.

His vision is expected to guide the museum into a new era of innovation and outreach.

For those planning a visit, MoMath offers a dynamic and immersive experience that brings mathematics to life.

Whether you're a lifelong math enthusiast or someone looking to discover the subject's wonders, the museum's interactive exhibits and programs promise an engaging journey through the world of mathematics.
