Stop Motion Animation in Manhattan, New York

Discover LAIKA Studios and explore behind the scenes animation

Stop motion animation enthusiasts in Manhattan are in for a treat this week. On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 6:00 PM, Rizzoli Bookstore at 1133 Broadway will host an exclusive event featuring LAIKA Studios' own Deborah Cook and Nelson Lowry. This special evening celebrates the launch of "LAIKA: The Magic Behind the Stop Motion Dream Factory," offering a rare glimpse into the studio's acclaimed stop-motion animation process.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to delve into the intricate world of stop-motion animation. Cook and Lowry will share insights into the meticulous craftsmanship that brings LAIKA's films to life, from the initial concept to the final frame. The discussion will be moderated by Nicolas Rapold, providing a comprehensive exploration of the studio's creative journey.

Following the conversation, guests can participate in a book signing session, adding a personal touch to this immersive experience. While RSVPs are encouraged, they are not mandatory. Seating is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with doors opening at 5:30 PM. For those unable to attend in person, signed copies of the book can be ordered through Rizzoli Bookstore's website.

This event is a must-attend for animation aficionados and anyone fascinated by the art of storytelling through stop-motion. Don't miss this chance to go behind the scenes with the creative minds at LAIKA Studios.
