Tucked just south of the West 25th Street entrance in Manhattan's beloved Madison Square Park, Jemmy's Dog Run stands as a vibrant haven for the neighborhood's four-legged residents. Named after James "Jemmy" Madison, this year-round facility has earned the title of New York City's #1 dog park from the Village Voice, offering a safe and engaging space for pets to romp, socialize, and stay active.
Spanning a thoughtfully designed area, the run features separate zones for large and small dogs to prevent any size-related mishaps, double-entry gates for secure access, and joint-friendly ground surfacing to ensure comfort during play. In warmer months, dogs can splash in a refreshing water feature, while trees and umbrellas provide shade to beat the heat. Hydration stations keep tails wagging, making it ideal for spring and summer outings.
Open daily with no membership required, the park adheres to NYC Parks Department rules for a harmonious environment—think leashes off inside, but responsible ownership always. Brief closures occur for maintenance: 15-30 minutes at 6 AM, 11 AM, and 4 PM starting October 26, 2025, plus deep cleanings Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Note that surrounding lawns open from 10 AM to 5 PM, weather permitting, and close during events or rain.
Whether you're a local pup parent or visiting with your furry companion, Jemmy's Dog Run embodies community spirit, blending fun, safety, and convenience in the heart of the Flatiron area. Swing by for playtime and watch your dog thrive! |
